Do you have trouble figuring out what to give the dad who has everything? It can be tough to find a unique gift — something a cut above the standard wallet, tie or electric razor. So here's a thought: why not give him the gift of cooler comfort this Father's Day?
These days, there are many ways you can cool down things for dad without creating Arctic conditions in the rest of the house.
Following are some of our "coolestandquot; suggestions for Father's Day gifts.
CEILING FAN
If he doesn't have one in his man cave, he needs one. Ceiling fans with the blades running counterclockwise can help push down cool air so it reaches a home's occupants at floor level, while lifting warm air to the ceiling. It also stirs the air so the perspiration on your skin evaporates better and cools you off. That way, you feel cool at a higher temperature and don't need to turn up the A/C.
BLADELESS FAN
They really do have blades, but they're hidden at the base of the pedestal so they are quieter, making the fan less obtrusive. These fans are also quite efficient.
DUCTLESS MINI SPLIT
If the dad in your life is stuck in a section of the home that needs some climate modification on the cool side, you might splurge and get him a ductless mini split. Mini splits are cool solutions to the problem of hot zones in a house. Composed of an indoor air handler and an outdoor compressor, they don't need ducts to distribute cool air.
SMART THERMOSTAT
A smart thermostat may be just the right gift for the dad who loves gadgets. Operated by an app on a smart device, the thermostat can be controlled from near or far. Some thermostats also control humidity or adjust for when an oven is on.
